Clicking on one of them will take you to the Store to acquire it. When Microsoft had introduced the suggested apps feature in the Start menu in a Windows 10 preview last year, it had created chaos among users. Microsoft said that app publishers did not pay to be featured and that it was to help customers discover new features and apps from the Store. Promoted apps are basically used on new PCs as links to boost Windows 10 users to download Store apps, and different apps are promoted in different countries. Microsoft has stated that any promoted apps that are preinstalled can be completely removed from the system, according to a report from The Verge. The company has also confirmed that promoted items can be removed from the start menu, but it appears that this only refers to individual apps, rather than an option to block all advertising. With 300 million devices now running Windows 10, there are expected to be a lot of changes in the free Anniversary Update, which includes browser extensions for the Edge browser, a new dark theme, new Cortana features, and improvements for the Xbox One.
